The adsorption method is widely used in treating organic waste gas, it has the following characteristics in use: the waste gas can be purified thoroughly, that is the deep purification can be carried out, showing greater advantages than other methods. At present, this method is the most commonly used, the most economical and safe method for treating organic waste gas of chemical industry in China, and can achieve the emission standard completely.
The adsorption method is suitable for treating organic waste gas with single component, stable gas flow and concentration of 300~5000ppm. This method is mainly used for adsorption and recovery of fats and aromatic hydrocarbons, most of the chlorinated solvents, commonly used alcohols, some ketones and esters.
The conventional adsorbent can be classified into granular activated carbon and activated carbon fiber(ACF), applied to different industries. ACF is often used for solvent recovery. ACF by the adsorption process is mainly related to its unique physical properties. The specific surface area of the hole wall is generally up to 1000 ~1600m2/g.
ACF is the third generation of efficient active adsorption materials and environmental protection engineering materials developed in the late 1970s. Compared with the commonly used powder and granular activated carbon, ACF has high carbon content, large specific surface area, abundant micropores, small pore size and narrow distribution, large adsorption capacity and rapid adsorption, easy regeneration and desorption, and flexible process(can be made into yarn, cloth, blanket, paper and other forms). At present, ACF has been widely used in the treatment of industrial waste water and waste gas.
ACF has the following characteristics:
(1) Large specific surface area, microporous structure, parallel regular pores of uniform size;
(2) Excellent machinability, can be made into non-woven cloth, cloth, paper, blanket, etc;
(3) High strength, difficult pulverization, without secondary pollution;
(4) High adsorption ability, large adsorption capacity;
(5) Rapid adsorption-desorption.
The adsorption capacity of the adsorbed component (often referred to as adsorbate) is limited by the adsorbent, so the adsorption method is often used to recover materials in high concentration organic waste gas or treated the low concentration waste gas deeply. ACF has advantages of large adsorption capacity and rapid adsorption-desorption, but its price is high. Thus, This process is commonly used for materials with greater economic recovery value, once without recovery value, granular activated carbon is more suitable.
